Current Research Focus
Our lab focuses on the dynamics of the Indian summer monsoon, exploring its variability, long-term changes, and impacts using advanced climate models, data analysis, and machine learning approaches. We investigate phenomena such as monsoon low-pressure systems, dry air intrusions, climate change impacts, and develop AI-based prediction systems to enhance forecasting skill and climate resilience.
Monsoon Dynamics
Investigating the physical processes governing the Indian summer monsoon, including intraseasonal variability, monsoon breaks, and the role of large-scale circulation patterns.
Climate Change & Future Projections
Assessing how global warming affects monsoon characteristics and developing regional climate scenarios to understand future changes in precipitation patterns.
AI/ML in Atmospheric Sciences
Developing machine learning algorithms for weather prediction, climate model emulation, and extreme event detection to enhance traditional approaches.
